CFD Car Fire Training 5-24-10

On Monday CFD drilled at the Hunterdon County Emergency Services Training Center. The drill was on car fires. A car was aquired to burn for this training session. The battery was removed and the fuel tank was drained and opened up to avoid the possiblity of explosion. Training Cneter Staff burned hay in the car to simulate a vehicle fire. CFD members practiced different techniques and gained valuable experience in safely handling vehicle fires. Today vehicles are especially dangerous to fire and rescue personell. Gas pistons, air bags, hybrid vehicles, and other features can injure firefighters if not handled properly.
